Day Tour to Ceylon Tea and Nuwara Eliya also known as Little England
Take our day trip to Nuwaraeliya , also known as Little England, is a hill country with a cool climate. This is where the British colonialists claimed this sanctuary and engaged in their pastimes such as fox hunting, deer hunting, elephant hunting, polo, golf and cricket. Nuwaraeliya is most famous for tea production in Sri Lanka. It produces the world famous Ceylon tea. The city has many tea factories that produces different kind of tea with different qualities. There are many famous water falls like Ramboda falls, devon falls, Sinclair falls around the beautiful city of nuwaraeliya.
Ceylon Tea Fields and Factory
Sri Lanka is one of the few countries where each tea leaf is picked by hand rather than by mechanization of modern technology. In general, these tea plants require constant nurturing and attention and the two leaves and a bud, which have the flavour and aroma, are skilfully plucked by mostly women.
Ramboda Water falls
Ramboda Falls is 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. The water fall is 109 m (358 ft) high and has an altitude of 945 m (3,100 ft) above sea level. A refreshing dip in the waterfall awaits you.
The Gregory Lake is situated in the heart of Nuwara Eliya hill country. It was built by the British Governor Sir William Gregory in 1873. He authorised the damming of the Thalagala stream, which originates from Mount Pidurutalagala in order to make more land available for the expansion of the Nuwara Eliya town.In 1913 the waters of the lake were directed into a tunnel which flows to a hydro power station at 'Blackpool' between the town and Nanu Oya. The power station continues to supply electricity to the town to this day. This lake was also used for water sports and recreational activities.
To commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, this park in Nuwara Eliya was named Victoria Park. It was established with the planting of the first Oak tree by a visiting German Princess. The Nanu Oya River runs through the park, creating a number of small scenic lakes that greatly enhance the park's natural beauty. A large number of rare bird species can be found here. I would like to take some time to get to know your travelling style and preferences. If you like to move fast to cover as many places as possible or prefer to take it slow & easy and spend more time at certain locations.
